TOO FAR DOWN

Author(s):
Connealy opens her third and final installment of the Cimarron Legacy series with a bang — four consecutive explosions to be exact. This final installment ties everything up nicely; not only the mystery in this book but also the ongoing mystery from the prior two books, too. In this page-turner we encounter distrust, contemplation, discovery and a re-awareness of God's blessings. Characters from the past two books make appearances as do characters from the author’s other series. Recommended for those who enjoy a fast, smart historical-set suspense.
Cole is the oldest of the Boden children and is not only in charge of his family's mining company, CR Mining, but he also feels responsible for helping his brother and sister take care of the family ranch while their father is away recovering from a planned "accident." More people die and Cole is determined to finally discover who is behind all the terrors his family has faced. First, he must make sure the mine is covered. Cole's longtime neighbor Melanie Blake has offered to help fill the mine vacancies until the danger has passed. They discover a surprising fact that could put them in even more danger. Will they find the culprit before another "accident" occurs? (BETHANY HOUSE, Oct., 320 pp., $14.99)
